LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The NAACP chapter in Las Vegas is calling for the resignation of a school police chief following a personnel decision to appoint a lieutenant over the training bureau after he used force on a student more than two years ago.
A video posted on social media by NAACP Las Vegas chapter president, Quentin Savwoir, raised concerns about Clark County School District Police Chief Mike Blackeye choosing Lt. Jason Elfberg to oversee the training bureau along with investigations and evidence starting July 1, as seen in an internal document obtained by News 3.
The NAACP released a letter Tuesday that said Blackeye’s decision to consider Elfberg for this type of leadership position demonstrated a “woeful lack of judgment” and undermined public trust in the department’s commitment to student safety and transparency…
