Tragic Collision Claims Life of 74-Year-Old Driver in Las Vegas

Las Vegas was the scene of an incident last week when two vehicles collided, resulting in a fatality. According to a report by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the accident occurred last Saturday, around 2:18 p.m. on Ernest May Lane. A collision between a 2003 Nissan Altima and a 2012 Nissan Versa resulted in the death of the Versa’s 74-year-old driver, George Petre of Las Vegas.

Investigators state that the Altima, driven by Marette Williams, 78, from North Las Vegas, was hit at the rear right side when the Versa accelerated from a private property across the sidewalk before entering the roadway. The Versa didn’t stop after hitting the Altima, continuing until it crashed into a building at 821 North Rancho. Williams claimed injuries from the event.

Paramedics responded to the scene swiftly, transporting Petre to the University Medical Center. The life-saving measures were in vain, as he was pronounced deceased soon after arrival. Petre’s case brings the total number of traffic-related deaths within Las Vegas jurisdiction this year to 86…
