LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A chilling threat has emerged in the Summerlin community, targeting Blake Owens, CEO of the real estate firm Augustus. A suspicious package delivered on Wednesday, July 30, contained a severed pig’s head and a menacing letter, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The letter, signed “M,” warned Owens, “Enjoy your moment while it lasts. And don’t get greedy because pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered.”
The threat appears to be linked to Augustus’s new AI tool, Agrippa, which aims to revolutionize commercial real estate sales by eliminating brokers. Neama Rahmani, President and CEO of West Coast Trial Lawyers, said, “This letter and the accompanying pig’s head is clearly a threat and meant to send a message but it is also a crime. Both a Nevada state crime and a federal crime.”
Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor, emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “The charges could exist without the letter but the letter is the proverbial smoking gun. It really shows the intent of the sender to intimidate the recipient.”
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released footage of a person of interest in connection with the incident. Rahmani warned that significant punishment could be forthcoming, noting, “These are all felonies. And they are punishable by at least one year in prison. The harassment, the stalking, the threats; those carry two-year minimum sentences in a Nevada state prison. And the use of the mails can be a potential five-year sentence in federal prison.”
In light of recent high-profile incidents, including the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson and a shooting at Blackstone and NFL headquarters, Rahmani expects prosecutors to pursue severe charges. “I think prosecutors are going to throw the book at this individual. Here is someone who has really taken a brazen criminal act. And try to threaten someone and try to intimidate someone and that is not how our justice system works,” Rahmani said…
