LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A leading Nevada state lawmaker wants to bring more training and education to the state around the “red flag” law to ensure more people know it’s an option.
The Extreme Risk Protection Order law went into effect in 2020, which allows law enforcement or a family member to petition the court to remove a person’s firearms temporarily if that individual is considered a risk to themselves or others. It was part of the most comprehensive gun legislation passed in 2019 following the 1 October shooting.
