A Clark County School District band teacher has been arrested and faces multiple charges involving an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student. Cole Horton, 30, was taken into custody by CCSD Police and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. FOX5 Vegas reports that Horton’s arrest followed an investigation at Basic Academy of International Studies relating to the 2024-25 school year.
Horton, who had been with the district since November 2019, has been placed on paid leave during the investigation. 8 News NOW detailed the charges against Horton, which include an act of a school employee engaging in a sex act with a pupil 16 or older and the attempt of contacting, or contacting a minor by a person of authority for sex. Horton’s bail was set at $15,000 with a court appearance scheduled for tomorrow.
This concerning incident comes on the heels of another unsettling event at Basic Academy where, as reported by KTNV, a student was arrested for bringing a loaded gun to school. Although the CCSD Police have not indicated if there is any connection between the two incidents…
