North Las Vegas Fire Department Welcomes 11 New Firefighters After Rigorous Training Program

The North Las Vegas Fire Department has added 11 fresh faces to their ranks, as reported in a recent announcement. The new recruits are now officially part of the firefighting family after a 20-week demanding training regimen. Their initiation was marked with a graduation ceremony that concluded with a traditional badge pinning, where they were each honored by a family member’s touch.

The ceremony took note of the diverse backgrounds of these individuals, who were sworn in before taking up their posts as probationary firefighters across the city’s fire stations. They’re not just fresh out of training; the group’s collective resume includes stints in the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, and other public safety occupations ranging from EMS to wildland firefighting. Ages in the class spanned from 19 to 31 years old and featured a near singular female presence amidst ten male colleagues.

Fire Chief Joseph Calhoun had some heartening words for the new team members. I am thrilled to welcome our next generation of firefighters to the North Las Vegas Fire family and commend their commitment to protecting and serving the city’s residents and businesses,” Calhoun said, according to the city’s news release. With genuine pride, he continued, The knowledge and skills they have gained over the last 20 weeks are just the beginning, as they continue to hone their craft to best meet the needs of our community. Their hard work and passion for service are what drive us forward.”
