Man in Lesly Palacio murder case violated probation, Las Vegas judge rules

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A judge ordered the man accused of killing 22-year-old Lesly Palacio to serve jail time after he fled the country while on probation; however, the sentence has little effect as he awaits his upcoming murder trial.

Erick Rangel-Ibarra, 30, is the only suspect in Lesly Palacio’s August 2020 murder. He is accused of killing Palacio, 22, on Aug. 29, 2020. Police found her remains two weeks later near the Valley of Fire.

The U.S. Marshals Service took Rangel-Ibarra into custody in Mexico in August following a year of extradition proceedings. Authorities in Mexico arrested Rangel-Ibarra in July 2024, the 8 News Now Investigators first reported.
