Las Vegas Commuters Brace for I-215 Closures and Lane Reductions Amid Pavement Preservation Project

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced an imminent series of traffic restrictions on Interstate 215 (I-215), impacting the Airport Connector and various frontage roads, as part of its ongoing I-215 Pavement Preservation Project. In a notice issued on October 10, the department outlined closures and lane reductions slated to begin on October 12 and continue through October 17. This effort is targeted at revamping roughly four miles of I-215 between the I-15 interchange and Windmill Lane. According to NDOT’s advisory, closures kick off at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 12, with the westbound 215 off-ramp to Warm Springs Rd and corresponding on-ramps facing restrictions, followed by lane reductions on westbound I-215 starting from Warm Springs Rd to Bermuda Rd on the night of October 13. These measures are intended to pave the way for enhancements aimed at ensuring the longevity and safety of the road surface, yet they will undoubtedly impose encumbrances upon the commuting public.

Traffic modifications will further progress come October 14, with a contraction to three westbound lanes from Bermuda Rd to Las Vegas Blvd and additional ramp closures that include the Hidden Well Rd on-ramp from southbound Airport Connector (SR171) to Las Vegas Blvd. These developments are expected to continue into the early hours of October 16, the NDOT confirms, affecting arterials like George Crockett Rd and Gilespie St, where travelers will encounter right and left lane limitations, respectively…
