New school safety measures added in North Las Vegas after student hit, killed in crash

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – North Las Vegas is adding crossing guards at the intersection where a 12-year-old was killed more than two weeks ago.

Two crossing guards will be stationed at Owens Avenue and 21st Street in North Las Vegas near Rancho High School in the mornings and afternoons to help middle school and high school students get to and from school safely.

The crossing guards will also cover C.P. Squires Elementary, Smith Middle, and Rancho High School all located within a few blocks of where 12-year-old Cristofer Suarez was hit by an alleged drunk driver earlier this month. He died three days later…
