Driver in Las Vegas hit-and-run that killed 12-year-old faces competency hearing

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Criminal proceedings against a man accused of killing a 12-year-old boy in a hit-and-run crash are delayed amid a competency determination.

Oh’Ryan Brooks, 27, faces DUI and reckless driving-related charges after the crash on Oct. 3. Brooks was driving a white SUV near Owens Avenue and 21st Street when police said he struck Cristofer Suarez and then drove off.

Brooks told police he had just returned from taking two children to school and was on his way to pick up the next group of kids, as he helped a woman who had eight kids each day with school drop-off, according to an arrest report…
