Teen’s heart stopped in high school classroom. He had to be transported to Arizona to figure out why.

PHOENIX — A 19-year-old Las Vegas student recently returned to a Phoenix hospital to reunite with the medical providers who treated a “life-threatening” condition that had resulted in him experiencing cardiac arrest.

CJ Henley was attending high school in December 2024 when his heart suddenly stopped in the middle of English class. The football player had stopped breathing and was taken to a Las Vegas hospital and put on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine.

Due to the severity of his condition, Henley was transported to Dignity Health St. Joseph’s in Phoenix to determine the cause of the cardiac arrest…
