Las Vegas valley grocery stores hit as SNAP recipients pull back spending

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — SNAP recipients are hanging in the balance, but they’re not the only ones. The ripple effect is reaching grocery stores, too.

The After Market, near Nellis Air Force Base, is partially a grocery store and partially a food pantry. According to their Founder and CEO, Dewayne McCoy, they’re feeling the hit of the government shutdown in two ways. Grocery sales are down, while demand at the food pantry is up.

“Unfortunately, with the government shutdown we’ve seen a 10% decrease, just with the retail shopping,” McCoy said…
