When federal aid falters, community fills the gap: The Just One Project responds to ongoing SNAP disruptions

Hundreds of cars filled the parking lot at 1401 N. Decatur Blvd. as volunteers at ​​The Just One Project (TJOP) moved at assembly-line speed, loading boxes of produce, shelf-stable goods and milk into trunks.

The nonprofit opened an emergency drive-thru distribution on Nov. 3 to reach anyone affected by the federal government shutdown and the temporary pause or delay in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit payments – no questions asked, no required qualifications and no appointments necessary. For many Las Vegas families, this emergency food distribution was not only a resource but a lifeline.
