Stepdad’s Desperate Plea Captured on Bodycam
Body camera footage released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department captures the chaotic aftermath as Valente Ayala, the victim’s stepfather, shouts, “My kid is dead!” after the shooting. Moments earlier, officers detained 22-year-old Tyler Johns, who appeared shockingly calm while explaining what happened.
According to the video, Johns told officers, “I didn’t know he had a kid in the back.” When questioned whether he fired his weapon, he admitted, “Yeah!” Ayala’s anguished response echoed across the freeway.
During the emotional exchange, Johns can also be heard asking an officer, “Is there a chance that the kid will be okay?” The officer replied, “There’s always a chance. If you’re a praying man, I would be praying right now.”
