Man faces attempted murder charges after firing on business from ‘a sniper’s position’

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 64-year-old man in a small town 80 miles southeast of Las Vegas faces felony charges of attempted murder after shots were fired at a business by a person in “a sniper’s position,” according to authorities.

Kevin Paul Barnes of Dolan Springs, Arizona, which is on U.S. 93 between Las Vegas and Kingman, was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 22, by deputies with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene at about 9:45 p.m., responding to a report of someone shooting toward a business in the 15000 block of Pierce Ferry Road, about 3 miles from U.S. 93. The caller said the shooter was shooting from “a sniper’s position” across the street.

Barnes was taken into custody without incident after deputies found him with a weapon. He was still in the Mohave County Jail as of Tuesday, according to jail records…
