Helicopter rescues hikers stranded in snowy Little Falls area at Mt. Charleston

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue helicopter responded Wednesday afternoon to assist hikers who were stuck in the Little Falls area of Mt. Charleston as snow fell.

Three hikers were off the trail, and one slipped and landed on a ledge. One of the other hikers climbed down to check on their partner, but found they couldn’t get there, and then realized they couldn’t get back up the trail. The third hiker went to call 911.

The hikers were cold but uninjured, and they stayed put until help arrived.

The helicopter lowered a team member to the ground. He was able to get both hikers out safely, and they were transported to the U.S. Forest Service helipad in Kyle Canyon, where medical personnel checked them for symptoms of hypothermia…
