Las Vegas program provides stability for youth aging out of foster care, correctional system

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Clean the fridge, take out the trash — all sound like simple tasks, but for youth at RISE Homes those tasks represent stability, structure, and a home, something they say they never had before.

RISE Homes is a transitional housing program for young adults exiting the foster care or correctional system. For 19-year-old Ythean Laboy, RISE Homes is family.

“I feel like RISE is a program, but it’s more of a familyhood,” Laboy said. “My story doesn’t come from being in Child Haven. I come from being inside a cell.”

From streets to success

Laboy grew up tough and, like many of the young adults at RISE Homes, his story could have ended on the streets. Now he is starting his own business and has dreams of being an influencer…
