‘Threatening me hurry’ Las Vegas woman texts 911 before police shoot, kill man holding her at gunpoint

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Before a Las Vegas officer shot and killed a man holding a woman at gunpoint, that woman texted and called 911, begging for help.

On Jan. 6, LVMPD officers responded to the 9200 block of West Russell Road, near South Fort Apache Road, at around 7:30 a.m. after a woman texted 911 saying she was being threatened with a gun.

The phone used to send the text was traced to the apartment complex, and officers were dispatched. A short time later, the same phone was used to call 911.

In the phone call, dispatch could hear a woman crying and begging a man to stop and let her leave, LVMPD Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren said in a news conference on Friday…
