Las Vegas family seeks justice after ICE deports driver who killed woman

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man charged with hitting and killing a woman crossing the street will likely never face any consequences after ICE deported him to Guatemala amid his criminal proceedings, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.

On July 19, 2025, Las Vegas Metro police arrested Angel Franco Merida, 37, on a charge of reckless driving resulting in death after he collided with Amber Brown, 33. Amber Brown was crossing Rancho Drive at Decatur Boulevard when Franco Merida ran a red light and killed her, police said.
