Police ID suspect accused of stealing bus, leading police on chase through Las Vegas, killing motorcyclist

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen bus and then hitting and killing a motorcyclist is identified as 24-year-old Jalen Felton, North Las Vegas police said.

According to court records, Felton is facing nine charges, including DUI, reckless driving resulting in death, hit-and-run, kidnapping, disobeying a police officer, grand larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle, making false statements to police, and resisting an officer.

He is facing charges in two jurisdictions because the bus was stolen in North Las Vegas and traveled into the Las Vegas area, where it was involved in a deadly crash.

Jalen is accused of stealing a Salvation Army bus with a passenger on board on Wednesday evening in the area of Lake Mead Boulevard near North 5th Street and leading police on a high-speed chase. North Las Vegas police attempted to stop the bus and ended the chase after learning the passenger had been let off.

In the meantime, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s air unit was following the bus and reported that it had run a red light and collided with a motorcyclist near W. Tropicana Avenue and Grand Canyon Drive. Police said Felton fled from the scene but was eventually taken into custody…
