LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Video the 8 News Now Investigators obtained shows a man admitting he killed the mother of his children — one of 24 domestic-violence related murders for Las Vegas Metro police in 2025.
Richard Watson, 41, faces charges of first-degree murder and child abuse or neglect following the December shooting east of the Las Vegas Strip. Officers located Christina Kelly, 29, suffering from several gunshot wounds. Watson shares two children with Kelly.

The shooting happened in an apartment complex parking lot near the Palms Hotel & Casino, which allowed officers to obtain video from the area. Detectives later located a video that they said showed the shooting.
That video, which the 8 News Now Investigators obtained, shows Watson and Kelly walking through the lot. Watson is holding a child carrier as Kelly holds another child. Watson then puts the child carrier on the ground, grabs the child from Kelly and shoots her several times, according to the video and grand jury testimony.
Watson then dropped off his children at a family member’s home and visited his parents, telling his father he killed Kelly. The interaction was captured on a home security camera…
