Nevada treasurer says students in Prepaid Tuition Program not impacted by tuition increases

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The state treasurer said in a Monday release that participants in the state’s prepaid tuition program will not be impacted by tuition increases.

Last week, the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents voted 8-5 to raise tuition across all of its colleges and universities. Depending on the school, tuition will rise by 9% or 12% over the next three years.

This will affect the University of Nevada Reno (UNR), the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), Nevada State University (NSU), and Nevada’s community colleges. The increase will take effect in the 2026-2027 academic year and continue through the 2028-2029 academic year.

On Monday, Jan. 26, Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine said in a release that participants in Nevada’s Prepaid Tuition Program will not be impacted by those changes, saying that their “investments in higher education are protected amid new tuition and fee increases.”…
