LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police are investigating a hostage situation and shooting involving police that left a man and a child dead on Tuesday morning.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan police, officers were responding to a call of a man battering a woman and attempting to remove a child from the home at around 1:20 a.m. When officers arrived at the apartment complex on Maryland Parkway, south of Windmill Lane, they discovered the man had a handgun and had fired a shot in the parking lot, and then went back inside the apartment.
“The suspect exited the residence while pointing a firearm at the juvenile, holding that juvenile hostage,” Captain Ryan Wiggins said.
Officers issued commands to the suspect to surrender, but he refused to comply and approached officers, while holding the child, causing police to shoot him, Wiggins said…
