Angry ex-boyfriend on the run for 16 years pleads guilty to 2008 Las Vegas execution-style murder

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man who was on the run for approximately 16 years has admitted to the murder of his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend in 2008. Jonathan Romero, 35, pleaded guilty to a first-degree murder charge on Tuesday, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.

Romero agreed to a potential prison term of 20 to 50 years, with credit for time served, according to a guilty plea agreement.

Romero found his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, David Manriquez, 18, hiding in a closet in her home near Lamb Boulevard and Washington Avenue, and shot him execution-style on July 18, 2008, according to Clark County grand jury transcripts obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators.

Romero then fled the country and was arrested approximately 16 years later in Mexico, Las Vegas Metro police said…
