North Las Vegas Woman Says Jail Beating Cost Her Pregnancy

A 27-year-old woman, Brandy Hood, has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against a North Las Vegas jail officer and the city, claiming that during a traffic-stop-related detention in August she was assaulted by an officer, denied medical care and later suffered a miscarriage. Her attorney says the lawsuit is backed by the formal complaint and hospital records that they argue support her version of events.

Suit filed in federal court

Attorney Carl E.G. Arnold filed the complaint last Thursday in U.S. District Court, according to a press release from CEGA Law Group. The suit names Hood as the plaintiff and lists officer Nimi Isaac and the City of North Las Vegas as defendants. The case is listed on federal dockets, including Justia Dockets, which categorize it as a civil action in Nevada federal court.

What the complaint says

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the lawsuit states that Hood was arrested Aug. 30, 2025, in connection with a traffic matter and was about one month pregnant while in custody.

It also claims officers refused multiple requests for medical assistance and handed Hood tissue instead of sanitary supplies.

“The force used and denial of medical care were a substantial factor in causing Hood’s pregnancy complications and loss,” the complaint states, as quoted by her attorney and reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The outlet also reports that emergency department notes from Valley Hospital documented declining hormone levels and described pregnancy complications consistent with trauma and abdominal pressure.

Attorney seeks accountability

In a firm release, Arnold said, “No amount of money can undo what’s been done, but we can fight for meaningful justice for Brandy and demand accountability from the wrongdoers,” according to CEGA Law Group. The statement frames the lawsuit as a push for both monetary damages and oversight remedies aimed at the city and its jail operations…
