Climber rescued at Red Rock after 30-foot fall on Sunday

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Rescuers responded Sunday afternoon to Red Rock Canyon after a climber was injured in a 30-foot fall, according to Metro police.

The climber sustained injuries to their arm and their hip, and was unable to move after the fall in the Kraft Mountain area at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, according to a social media post from Metro’s search and rescue unit.

BLM rangers used a drone to find the climber, and Metro’s AIR3 went to the scene. Four search and rescue officers and three Mountain Rescue volunteers were taken in to attend to the person and prepare to do an air lift.

Video from the scene shows AIR3 holding steady as the climber is loaded into the helicopter for transport. The victim was transferred to an ambulance and taken to a hospital. A condition update was not provided…
