LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The North Las Vegas City Council approved a $1.2 million settlement on Wednesday after a deaf woman filed a complaint against the city, the North Las Vegas police chief, and individuals related to an investigation back in 2021. In the complaint, she stated that she was unable to communicate with an officer during an investigation in 2021 due to her disability.
In the lawsuit, Andrea Hollingsworth, who is deaf, alleged Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations, civil rights violations, and 1983 claims against the defendants in the case during the police investigation.
