Las Vegas HOA considers bulletproof glass for meetings

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas homeowners association considered purchasing bulletproof glass for their meetings, but some neighbors say a more pressing concern lies with where their money is going.

The Sun City Summerlin Community Association was set Tuesday to consider “bullet resistant plexiglass” which would surround their executive director and assistant executive director during board meetings. After 8 News Now inquired about the agenda item, neighbors said the item was removed from the meeting.

“To clarify, there is no active security threat prompting action by the association,” Sharry Quillin, a publicist for the association, said. “The agenda item referenced is a precautionary workplace safety measure intended to improve staff safety, visibility, and emergency access during board meetings.”

Quillin said the board sits in a confined, exposed area at the front of the meeting room and the board has a responsibility to evaluate reasonable steps to support a safe working environment…
