Las Vegas woman charged in crowbar murder arrested in prior beating, police say

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The woman accused of beating a 77-year-old man to death with a crowbar previously faced charges for beating a person with a pole, according to documents 8 News Now obtained Tuesday.

On Feb. 10, a person called 911 to report they found an injured man during a welfare check at an apartment in the 900 block of Brush Street, near the intersection of Charleston and Decatur boulevards.

Arriving medical personnel found Richard Smith, 77, sitting on a chair in the apartment with blood on his face. They pronounced him dead at the scene. The coroner later noted “multiple” blunt force injuries to Smith’s head and neck, according to an arrest report.

Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the apartment and found a metal crowbar lying on the couch with apparent blood on it…
