Clark County judge denies councilwoman’s motion to dismiss felony charge

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Clark County District Court judge on Tuesday denied a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus — a legal challenge arguing the charge is not legally valid — filed by Henderson Councilwoman Carrie Cox’s attorney in her ongoing felony case.

Cox, who represents Henderson Ward 3, was indicted by a grand jury in November. According to the indictment, the incident occurred Jan. 9, 2025. Cox is accused of using a “mechanical device, electronic or other listening device” to monitor private conversations. The alleged victims were identified as Dr. Monica Larson, Michael Hiltz, and Richard Smith.
