Las Vegas police identify man arrested in double homicide that left woman, toddler dead

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified the man accused of shooting and killing a woman and a toddler Monday.

On March 3, the Ogden City Police Department and Utah Highway Patrol arrested 22-year-old Ziaire Ham in Utah, according to Metro police. 8 News Now first reported the arrest Tuesday, after he allegedly stole a vehicle in Phoenix, Arizona, according to 8 News Now sources.

On March 2, around 9 p.m., in the 1100 block of Victoria Medici Street, near Starr Avenue and Dean Martin Drive, Las Vegas Metro officers were conducting an unrelated traffic stop when they heard several gunshots in the area, according to Metro police.

Those officers then got into their patrol vehicle and drove to the area where they believed the gunfire was coming from. As they turned into the area, they found a vehicle that had “several” impacts from gunfire on it, police said.

As officers approached the vehicle, they found a woman, identified as 20-year-old Danaijha Robinson, and a young toddler, identified as 1‑year‑old Nhalani Hiner, inside. Both were hit by gunfire and police rendered aid until medical personnel arrived.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital, where staff pronounced both Robinson and Hiner dead, police said.

Before shooting the woman and toddler, the Ham allegedly tried to steal the car they were sitting in on Monday night, according to 8 News Now sources. Robinson was watching a friend’s toddler at the time of the shooting, according to a GoFundMe set up by the victim’s family.
