VIDEO: Las Vegas casino implosion caught on camera

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The long-closed Eastside Cannery casino on the Boulder Strip was imploded Thursday morning after closing during the COVID-19 pandemic and never reopening.

The demolition for the casino happened at 2 a.m. on Thursday, March 5 and was not open to the public. The date was announced in February by Boyd Gaming.

The 16-story Eastside Cannery opened in 2008, but closed during the pandemic and never reopened its doors.

“It has been more than five years since we closed Eastside Cannery, and there is not sufficient market demand to reopen the facility,” vice president David Strow with Boyd Gaming Corporation, told 8 News Now in October…
