Las Vegas Felon Caught With Meth, Fentanyl and Unmarked Handgun Gets 11 Years in Federal Prison

A Las Vegas man with prior felony convictions is headed to federal prison for more than a decade after a 2022 search of his home turned up over 600 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl and a small arsenal of firearms, including a 9mm handgun with no serial number.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, U.S. District Judge Richard F. Boulware sentenced Jason Roon of Las Vegas on March 16, 2026, to 132 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Prosecutors had asked for a 151 month sentence.
