LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Four people face charges, including murder, in the death of an 18-year-old killed during a shootout between rival gangs, which investigators solved with the help of lyrics in a rap music video.
Metro police arrested Jamario Lofton, 26, on Tuesday on charges including open murder, attempted murder and conspiracy murder, the 8 News Now Investigators first reported. Rap lyrics and location data led police to Lofton, documents said.
The shooting on April 1, 2023, happened in the 5900 block of Tamara Costa Court, near Charleston Boulevard and Sloan Lane. After the shooting, Curtis Smith, 18, was dropped off at Centennial Hills Hospital with a gunshot wound and later died from his injuries, the department said…
