LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported a 60% drop in officer-involved shootings last year compared to the previous year.
The department credits intensive academy and ongoing training for helping officers make better decisions.
“Our officers are out there every single day, making split‑second decisions that could affect people’s lives,” said LVMPD Public Information Officer Sergeant Jakob Shallenberger. “A lot of that reduction in officer‑involved shootings is because of the amount and type of training they get.”
