FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts said Tuesday he’s pushing for a more “accurate appraisal” and a “substantial increase” in the assessed value of “hyperscale” data centers that he believes could bring in as much as $85 million in new tax revenue for the county.
In a release, Chairman Pitts said the increase in “appraised values for certain data centers” would go to $5 billion from less than $100 million. The increase will be put to the Fulton County Board of Assessors for approval during their meeting on Thursday.
The chair of the Board of Assessors, Lee Morris, endorsed the plan as a “new and more accurate way to value and assess data centers so that they will pay their fair share of the property tax burdens.”…
