City of Loganville receives federal grant for school sidewalk project

Officials with the City of Loganville announce that the city has been awarded federal funding through the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program to begin preliminary engineering for a new sidewalk network designed to improve pedestrian safety near local schools.

The project will add sidewalks along Lee Byrd Road and Old Zion Cemetery Road, creating safer walking routes in front of Bay Creek Elementary School and extending toward the Loganville High School football stadium.

“Sidewalks in this area have been discussed by the city for several years,” said Assistant City Manager Dr. Jeff Smith. “This funding allows us to finally move forward on a project that protects our students and connects our schools.”…
