The mother of a woman killed by a stray bullet while celebrating her 22nd birthday in DeKalb County is still searching for answers one year after the deadly shooting.
Demetra Blandenburg said she believed police had arrested the person responsible for killing her daughter, Kinaya Hightower. But the investigation took a different turn when investigators determined the suspect’s gun did not match the bullet that killed Hightower.
