Kirk Cousins Reveals Surprising Motivation Behind Falcons’ OT Win Over Bucs

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins had one of the best performances of his career in Thursday’s 36-30 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Cousins completed 42 of 58 passes for 509 yards, four touchdowns and an interception, and he connected with KhaDarel Hodge on the game-winning 45-yard touchdown pass 8:45 into the overtime period.

The Falcons began the fourth quarter down 27-20 but Cousins led a game-tying touchdown drive less than two minutes into the period and again three drives later as Atlanta scored the game-tying field goal as time expired.

In an interview with NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe after the game, Cousins admitted he drew on an unexpected source to help fuel him in leading the Falcons back from the brink of defeat.

“I love the nest over here, the crowd — they’re never down,” Cousins said . “They’re bringing it no matter what the score is. And I love that ‘Swag Surf’ song in the fourth quarter. It gets me going, it gets our crowd going and I’ve really enjoyed the environment here the last few weeks.”
