ATLANTA — A person was killed as crews were clearing out a homeless encampment on Thursday, according to a spokesperson with Atlanta’s Department of Public Works (DPW).
It happened just after noon in the 300 block of Old Wheat Street NE, according to the Atlanta Police Department. The encampment that was being cleared is across from Ebenezer Baptist Church.
According to Atlanta police, officers responded to the scene after getting a “person injured” call. Responding emergency crews took the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, though officials have not clarified how exactly he died…
