101st Airborne Division soldier dies at Fort Campbell, incident under investigation

FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Officials are investigating the death of a 101st Airborne Division soldier this week at Fort Campbell.

Officials confirmed to Clarksville Now that Spc. Stephen Akinlotan, 21, died Monday afternoon in the garrison area. “The incident and cause of death are under investigation,” said Lt. Col. Marty Meiners.

Akinlotan of Dumfries, Virginia, was an infantryman assigned to 3rd Mobile Brigade, “Rakkasans.” He joined the Army in July 2021 and completed training at Fort Benning, Georgia, before arriving at Fort Campbell in January 2022. During his assignment, he completed a rotation in Estonia with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
