Sandy Springs Police introduce K-9 Jumper, a crime-fighting goat

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Sandy Springs Police just introduced their newest K-9 recruit, and he’s already turning heads — mainly because he’s not a dog at all.

In a social media post, the department unveiled K-9 Jumper, a small, spotted goat. According to the post, Jumper will be trained in narcotics detection, apprehension, head-butting, and jumping. That last part, at least, seems promising.

A photo shared by the department shows an officer holding Jumper on a leash, and while the post didn’t say much more, the joke landed with plenty of followers:

  • “Trained to catch baaaaaaad people! (sorry, had to do it!)”
  • “Whens the meet n greet?!”
  • “I had to go grab my glasses to figure out what was wrong with that ‘dog.'”

The department didn’t clarify whether Jumper is an official mascot, a temporary visitor, or just the star of a good old-fashioned police prank. Either way, he’s already making an impression…
