DeKalb County Launches The Great American Cleanup Initiative with Competitive Twist for Eco-Friendly Transformation

In an effort to enhance environmental health and community engagement, DeKalb County’s Super Districts 7 and 6 have teamed up with the local Beautification Unit to champion ‘The Great American Cleanup.’ This initiative, as detailed on the DeKalb County’s website, invites residents to take a proactive stance in transforming their neighborhoods through recycling, clean-up activities, and adopting sustainable practices.

Commissioners Dr. LaDena Bolton and Ted Terry, along with Beautification Unit’s Director Tracy Hutchinson and Superintendent Ricky Crockett, are encouraging individuals and groups to start recycling programs and choose eco-friendly products. The campaign, which includes a friendly competition element, aims to find DeKalb’s ‘CHAMPION for a cleaner, greener DeKalb’ and rewards the Super District and individual with the most litter collection achievements with a special prize. “But that’s not all, we’re turning this into a friendly competition!” states the DeKalb County’s announcement.

The organized effort kicked off on March 20 and will run through June 21, with materials and clean-up supplies available for participants. Those interested in joining the cause can pick up supplies and contribute to the cleanliness of their community until the final day of scheduling on June 12, as mentioned on the DeKalb County’s official statement…
