Barrow County sheriff speaks after threatening phone calls made to several schools

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — The soft lockdown at five Barrow County schools has been lifted Friday morning after law enforcement investigated a series of “threatening calls” to several schools.

According to the sheriff’s office, the first call of a bomb threat was made to County Line Elementary School around 8:20 a.m. “Within the next several minutes,” the sheriff’s office said, four other schools — Yargo Elementary, Kennedy Elementary, Winder Elementary and Apalachee High — and the district’s central office also received bomb threats.

At this time, officials stressed that all students and staff are safe and there were never any evacuations, but the sheriff’s office said it sent additional security to each school as a precaution.
