Not satisfied with your life? Get a pet, new study finds

Having a ruff day? Is life hounding you? According to a new study, having a pet can come with major life-improving benefits.

Published in Social Indicators Research in March, a U.K.-based study recently attempted to measure the impact of pet companionship. The researchers asked participants to grade their overall life satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 7. The study discovered that pet companionship increased people’s answers by 3 to 4 points. That’s upward of a 57% increase in reported life satisfaction.
