DeKalb CEO lays out priorities in first State of the County address

DORAVILLE, Ga. — On the red carpet backdrop of Assembly Studios, DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson rolled out her State of the County address with a focus on four pillars.

“Public safety, infrastructure, housing and economic development will truly be the cornerstone of my success in Dekalb,” Cochran-Johnson said. “DeKalb County is not just reimagined. I want to be clear, it’s awakened.”

Since taking office in January, Cochran-Johnson has taken an aggressive approach to running the county. Within her first 100 days, she relieved the DeKalb Police chief of her duties, named an interim chief, and reallocated $10 million to increase salaries to address an officer shortage. She also announced that she plans to build a $2 million real-time crime center and implement a drone-focused first responder pilot program…
