COVINGTON — A driver and a 9-year-old passenger were seriously injured Sunday afternoon when their car was struck by a vehicle that was fleeing from authorities.
According to reports, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office initiated pursuit of a Hyundai Sonata on Ga. Highway 20 Sunday just before 4 p.m. The driver of the Sonata was suspected of DUI. During the pursuit, the Sonata, traveling west on Highway 20, lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes, striking a Nissan Maxima. The crash occurred near Oak Hill Road.
