Gwinnett County police officer praised for life saving actions for unresponsive toddler

Unnamed off-duty nurse also assisted in the life saving actions

LOGANVILLE, GA (Sept. 5, 2025) – A Gwinnett County police officer is being praised for his quick actions in the Loganville area of Gwinnett County on Aug. 17 that helped bring about a positive outcome for a toddler who was initially unresponsive.

According to a post from Gwinnett County Police Department, Gwinnett Master Police Officer Mondesir was parked at Hoke O’Kelly Mill Road and Loganvile Highway working on a report from an earlier call when someone approached him, telling him a toddler nearby was not breathing. Mondesir quickly went to the scene and, “without hesitation, took the 18-month-old in his arms and began administering aid.” He and and an unidentified off-duty nurse performed CPR on the child for about seven minutes before Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services arrived swiftly and were able to transport the child to a hospital.
