ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Motion hearings were set to continue Wednesday for some of the 61 co-defendants accused of breaking the law in their protests against the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.
Attorneys and advocates held a news conference around 12:30 p.m. in which they said charges against 56 defendants were going to be dismissed.
The charges were brought by Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr in 2023. But defense attorneys argued on Tuesday that Carr’s office can only legally bring terrorism charges — not arson or violation of Georgia’s racketeering act, which many of the defendants were also charged with…
