DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Three men who escaped from the DeKalb County Jail are facing federal kidnapping charges after the FBI said in a criminal complaint that they violently hijacked a Lyft driver, held her against her will for roughly 10 hours and forced her to drive them from metro Atlanta to Miami during a terrifying overnight ordeal.
According to federal court documents filed Tuesday, the escapees used a rope to choke the driver, restrained her hands and threatened to kill her as they traveled for hours toward South Florida. The woman later told FBI agents that she feared for her life and was actively trying to save her life when the rope was pulled around her neck.
